The WWE originated in the early 1950's as Capitol Wrestling Corporation. Over the years it has gone through numerous name changes such as World Wide Werstling Federation (WWWF) to World Wrestling Federation and then finally after a dispute with World Wildlife Fund it became the World Wresting Entertainment (WWE) in 2002.

WWE is the biggest promoter of professional wrestling in the world. In the 80's in a push for television syndication they created Wrestlemania which hosted some of the most iconic and significant wrestling matches in the history of sports entertainment and launched the celebrity status of many wrestlers. With young children imitating their favourite wrestlers in the 80's its no surprise that many went on to get tattoos of their favourite wrestlers when they grew up

WWE currently broadcast shows such as Raw and SmackDown in more than 150 countries. Along with Wrestlemania they also produce 12 pay per view events each year and have over 300 live events which take place throughout the world.

Hulk Hogan

Hulk Hogan is the most recognised and well known wrestler from the 1980's after being in Rocky 3. He was portrayed as an all american hero and headlined the Wrestlemania events in the 80's.

Randy "Macho Man" Savage

Randy Savage was a popular wrestler from the 80's known as "Macho Man". He was known for his gravelly voice and his catchphrase of "Oh yeah!". After retiring from the ring he went on the be a commentator. Unfortunately he passed away from cardiovascular disease in 1991.

Ultimate Warrior

The Ultimate Warrior wrestled from 1987 to 1996 and was one of the most popular wrestlers who held a number of WWF Heavyweight belts. He had numerous enemies within the WWE and had feuds with The Undertaker and Jake The Snake to name a few.

The Rock

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson wrestled from 1996 to 2004. Following his career in wrestling he has since gone on to pursue a successful acting career and has starred in many blockbuster franchises.

Ric Flair

Ric Flair has had a wrestling career that has spanned forty years after debuting in 1972. He is recognised as a 16 time world champion and wrestled under Nature Boy.

Stone Cold Steve Austin

Steve Austin better know to wrestling fans as "Stone Cold" Steve Austin wrestled from 1989 to 2003. Following his retirement he has gone on to be an actor and television host.

The Undertaker

The Undertaker joined WWE in 1990. He is the longest serving wrestler having represented the company for over 30 years. He has numerous feuds throughout the years such as "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Sgt. Slaughter

Sgt. Slaughter wrestled from 1972 to 2014. He left and returned to the WWE three times in his career.

Bret "Hitman" Hart

Bret "The Hitman" Hart is a second generation wrestler who wrestled with the WWE from the late 70's to the year 2000. In 2006 he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Andre The Giant

Andre the Giant was a french professional wrestler. In 1987 he wrestled against Hulk Hogan in Wrestlemania 3. Andre's size was due to "Gigantism", a condition which produces an excessive amount of growth hormone. Andre passed away in 1993 from congestive heart failure.

Mr. Perfect

Mr Perfect was the longest-reigning titleholder of the 1990s in the WWF. He held the Intercontinental Heavyweight Champion in 1990.

Shawn "The Heartbreak Kid" Michaels

Shawn Michaels wrestled from 1984 to 2018 for various wrestling organisations including the WWE. He is a four times world champion having held the WWF Championship 3 times and WWE's World Heavyweight Championship once.
