Miley Cyrus adds a work of art to her collection of tattoos
Miley Cyrus has been on a tattoo binge in the past year. She had the word “Freedom” tattooed on her hand in Xmas 2019 by Daniel Winterstone along with a handwritten note given to her by Yoko Ono. And for her newest addition to her collection, Cyrus sought the skills of tattooer Nico Bassill. The LA based Bassill has also tattooed her current boyfriend Cody Simpson during the same session with a small Prince Neptune trident.
Cyrus instead opted for a tattoo based on a work of art by Henri Matisse. The tattoo is a line drawing of a naked woman based on his “Nude with Fruits”. Matisse was famous for commanding the fauvism movement. The fauvism movement is a Neo-impressionistic style that originated in the early 1900’s.
Cyrus is believed to have been inspired to get the Matisse piece by the book Dance Me To the End of Love which took Leonard Cohens song of the same name and illustrated it with art by Matisse. She captioned her Instagram post showing off the elegant tattoo: “Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin. Dance me through the panic till I'm gathered safely in. Touch me with your naked hand or touch me with your glove. Dance me to the end of love.” Matisse X Cohen
